Youth Career, Health & Fitness
                        Camps

A Good Sports - USA Youth Career, Health & Fitness Camp is a great way to get youth active (who would otherwise be on the sideline in sports, social groups, and entertainment activities), engaged and involved in learning.

As with our regularly scheduled youth mentoring program, the premier aspect of Good Sports - USA Youth Career, Health & Fitness Camps is to focus on youth employment education, training and workforce readiness skills, specifically regarding non-player sports and entertainment jobs/careers.

Our Good Sports - USA Youth Career, Health & Fitness Camps are divided into three workshops each lasting as little as 30 minutes or as long as 2 hours each, and can be a week or up to 8 weeks in length.  Each Good Sports - USA Career, Health & Fitness Camp offers three workshop that involve fun, engaging, interactive learning and role play focused on 1) the employment process and 2) non-player sports and entertainment jobs/careers and health & fitness.

Good Sports -USA employment process workshops content depend on the age of participating youth; the workshops may start with simple discussions about chores around the home and involve engaging activities wherein participating youth transfer those jobs to there real world counterpart.  For example, a youth who states that he has the chore of taking out the garbage might discuss a job as a janitor or city sanitation engineer.

Good Sports - USA non-player sports and entertainment workshops involve participating youth taking part in professional presentations by true professionals who are currently working in some non-player sports or entertainment industry career, such as a sports agent or a movie producer, song writer, etc.

Good Sports - USA Health & Fitness workshops are designed specifically with three goals in mind: 1) getting youth out of their regular indoor routines of video games and television, 2) increasing youth physical fitness through playful exercise/stretching and 3) making the time to talk with youth about proper health habits and tips to encourage healthy eating and a healthy life style.

Good Sports - USA Youth Camps are tailored to fit the time frame during after school, winter/ spring breaks and during the summer.  A key component taught in every in Good Sports - USA program is a heavy emphasis on teaching youth the importance about the “rules of the game” and how this early practice can develop healthy habits of compliance and citizenship in the world beyond the field of play.

If you, or anyone you know, might have an interest in bringing a Good Sports - USA Youth Camp to the youth in their community please encourage them to reach out to us today!

Education & Training at Work

Youth Mentoring and Career
     Development Training

Good Sports - USA youth mentoring services are at the core of our mission and take place after school and on weekends; the services are based within the community of residence where participating youth live.  We believe that every youth deserves the time, attention, resources and opportunities to be successful.

In order to qualify for the Good Sports - USA youth mentoring program, each referred youth must be between the ages of 6 - 18 years of age, reside within a low income or rural community where Good Sports - USA services are being offered and be authorized to participate in the program by his or her appropriate parent/guardian.

As a participant in the Good Sports - USA youth mentoring program ,each youth, referred to as a mentee or "sport", takes part in weekly group sessions, activities, events, explorations and outings within their respective community and to various social, business, spiritual/religious, arts and educational destinations throughout the greater community.

Good Sports - USA programming is focused on academic improvement, employment education, training, workforce readiness, character/life skills development and service learning. The premier aspect of the Good Sports - USA youth mentoring program involves the reoccurring efforts to transform the motivation youth have for sports, music, dance and other aspects of entertainment into a keen awareness, understanding and appreciation for the employment process.

A primary goal is to teach youth about non-player sports and entertainment careers, the jobs and careers which surround the central sports & entertainment figures, such as the coach, the sports analyst, the athletic trainer, the owner, the GM, the facilities manager, the director, the writer, the make-up artist, the food vendors, etc.

An additional incentive of the non-player sports and entertainment careers programming is that participating youth get the opportunity to meet, up-close and personal, many non-player sports and entertainment career professionals, some of whom have since retired from the role of being a central figure in either the sports or entertainment industries.

During their period of participation in the Good Sports - USA youth mentoring program, youth are assigned both with a tutor and mentor volunteer.

Good Sports - USA tutor volunteers, who we refer to as our subject matter experts, are tasked with increasing the youth's academic performance through academic coaching and, usually, meet with the mentee in the first hour of the after school program in order to assist with homework or other academic needs of the youth.  Tutor volunteers often work in coordination with parents, schools and teachers in ensuring that the youth is on track academically and that all academic requirements and obligations are being fulfilled.

Adult mentors are required to meet with their mentee at least 4 times per month, usually after school and on weekends when approved by the mentee’s parent/guardian.  Mentors are tasked with encouraging youth participation in basic needs assessment, social, spiritual/religious, political and economic activities, as well as with developing a positive and principled relationship with the mentee through providing supportive dialogue, guidance, suggestions and options in both personal and professional development.

All Good Sports - USA tutors. mentors and aides are interviewed, assessed and required to pass a level II background check prior to any engagements with participating Good Sports - USA program youth.   If you, or anyone you know, might have an interest in becoming a Good Sports - USA tutor, mentor or aide, or even a mentee, please, encourage them to contact us today.
